We at SmallBizReorg are big fans of Paul Simon. That said, we couldn’t help realizing that his classic, “50 Ways to Leave Your Lover,” really had a hidden meaning.

It’s 1975. Inflation is running at an all-time high of 13.4%, there’s a sense of stagnation, and the Bankruptcy Code hasn’t yet been enacted.

Deeply encoded in this tune, Paul offers a guide to debt relief … “50 Ways to Leave Your LENDER.”

Jack Rose, SmallBizReorg’s Founder and Host, helps us find the hidden meaning in Paul Simon’s classic, 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover (Lender):

“You just slip out the back, Jack.” (You just don’t pay the debt.)

“You make a new plan, Stan” (Well, the Bankruptcy Act was around, and there was a lot of talk about code… so, he was alluding to the Bankruptcy Code.)

“Hop on the bus, Gus. You don’t need to discuss much. Just drop off the key, Lee.” (Non-Recourse Loans!)

“She said, ‘It grieves me so to see you in such pain, I wish there was something I could do to make you smile again.’ I said, ‘I appreciate that, and would you please explain about the 50 ways?” (ASK HER FOR MONEY!)

Everything old is new again. SmallBizReorg is here to help.
